is an absolute classic on four wheels and a true legend: the VW Bus. The Dutchman
Ben Pon is regarded as its creator. With a few swift brush strokes, he drew
a motorised mule. Of course, this was not intended to pursue a lifestyle idea,
but first and foremost to serve as a simple and sturdy means of transport. Ben
Pon’s inspiration came from a curious vehicle made by the assembly workers themselves,
a “panel van” based on a VW Beetle. That was in 1946, and shortly afterwards,
the sketch was turned into a prototype. In 1950, a box-shaped transporter rolled
off the production line. It immediately acquired the nickname Bus. The Bus represents
freedom and adventure on four wheels and is a symbol of independence and longing
for faraway places. Today it is the perfect vehicle with which to escape the
everyday grind for a while and devote yourself to the beautiful and pleasurable
side of life.

Café Gerbergasse, a pleasure experience on 2 floors
On the 1st floor, in addition to the impressive, historical perspective
(wall) of this old-town house, a new café with seating for 10 awaits. In this
quiet, cosy ambiance, we serve our delicacies. As well as traditional coffee
and espresso, the indulgence menu offers other types such as cappuccino and
latte macchiato. To prepare them, we use coffees from the Moccaraba coffee roasting
house in Kleinbasel. Of course, there is also a fine selection of teas and other
alcohol-free drinks to choose from. Each drink is served with a Basler Läckerli,
freshly baked on the premises and still warm from the oven.
We are also
pleased to offer a selection of our delicious pralines and truffles as well
as fresh macaroons and small pastries – a treat for all the senses. We
look forward to your visit.

The Läckerli Huus has moved
The Läckerli Huus has just moved to a new base in Frenkendorf (BL). At the
same time, the former production locations in Münchenstein and Gelterkinden
were merged. As a special treat for our customers, all of our many specialities
can be sampled, freshly made, in a modern shop from 1 October 2014. Of course,
you can still buy all your favourite delicacies direct here. The architecture
of the building reflects the long tradition of the Läckerli Huus tins, and also
the golden tones frequently used for them. From now on, you can not only buy
the ever popular Läckerli Huus specialities in special themed and artistic tins,
but the masterpieces themselves are also created and produced in a large tin,
namely the new building.
The decision to move to a new headquarters and
production site was not taken lightly: organisational and development challenges,
ever-increasing demands on quality, various planned new developments as well
as, of course, our belief in the future have induced us to take this step.Environment-friendly
“The aim of the new building and the new production facilities
is also to produce in the most energy-neutral and resource-conserving way possible,
for the benefit of our environment – something that benefits us all”, according
to Stefan Geller, Operations Manager. All areas of the new building were therefore
finished to the Minergie standard. This calls for complex procedures for heat
and cold recovery in a production building. In addition, ground water is used
for heating and cooling.With loving care and traditional craftsmanship
after the move, we will be keeping up familiar traditions. Our delicacies produced
to the original recipe will continue to be made with loving care and traditional
craftsmanship. Through the use of new technologies and thanks to optimum conditions
in the building, we will be able to go on satisfying our customers’ high quality
expectations and constantly develop new delicacies for you. An investment

commitment to our Basel origins. As an old-established Swiss company, we are

Following the refurbishment (August 2012) you can look forward to a sensuous
experience over 2 floors on the Gerbergasse: The aroma of freshly baked Basler
Läckerli greets you as you enter, while a linear interior design concept regales
the eye. Sophisticated materials such as walnut, oak and Vals quartzite create
an elegant and yet inviting ambiance in which you can experience how Original
Basler Läckerli are made at first hand. Sample an oven-fresh Läckerli
– unalloyed pleasure!
In addition to the traditional Original Basler
Läckerli and its different variations, the unique Cream caramels, the incomparable
Chocolate wafers, the fresh and fruity Gelée Russes, the crisp, filled Flûtes
